Information technologies maintenance unit

The unit is mainly serves to develop and maintain IIMM information system supporting research activities in accordance with SRW planning.

 

Unit functions:

 

  1. Ensuring of proper operation for the Institute’s information system (IS) and communication center of IS KSC RAS.
  2. Development of implementation plans and implementation of new information technologies, hardware tools for IS of the Institute and communication center of IS KSC RAS.
  3. Carrying-out of work prescribed by SRW plans.
  4. Providing of access to global networks recourses for IIMM employees and other subdivisions of KSC.
  5. Registering of the Institute’s IS resources utilization.

Institute’s information system (IS) is a subsystem of general KSC information system.

IS KSC RAS is a geographically-distributed system consisting of 10 subsystems from KSC subdivisions and 2 branches of higher educational establishments. IS KSC topology is a star with communication center in the center of it supported by the unit specialists.

Institute’s IS is a local network major resources of which are concentrated in data processing center (DPC).

Two similarly structured clusters operate in DPC. The first one consists of two servers Fujitsu Primergy H250 and storage systems Fujitsu Primergy S60. The second includes two servers HP Proliant 350 G4 and storage systems HP Modular Smart Array 500 G2. There are also some independent servers (of HP ProLiant ML150 G3 type). DPC is facilitated with devices for power safety and conditioning.
